EVO4 aerial platform

AT HOME ON STEEP SLOPES

The SAMATEC EVO4 aerial platform and harvesting machine has been specially developed for steep terrain. The drive motors with integrated gearbox and brake on each wheel hub were developed in cooperation with well-known gearbox manufacturers. Since each of the four drive motors is controlled individually, wheel spin – as can occur with a differential drive – is not possible. Different wheel speeds during cornering are balanced through process-controlled steering-angle measurement. Thanks to the generously sized external rotor motors, the platform offers substantial power reserves. In addition, the drive motors feature energy recuperation downhill and a powerful negative brake (forced brake). This special drive technology, combined with the stable frame and proven scissor-lift mechanism, ensures safe operation on steep terrain.

The EVO4’s all-wheel steering enables optimal driving behaviour without shifting the machine’s centre of gravity. This guarantees high safety and stability on all types of terrain. The steering allows turning in extremely confined spaces, making it easy to move from one row to the next.

The automatic steering system with ultrasonic sensors enables autonomous, centred or—if needed—offset driving between tree rows. Using advanced SAMATEC technology, the sensors configure themselves fully automatically and switch independently between leaf mode and branch mode. The steering system adapts to the driving speed and stops the EVO4 at the end of the row.

The EVO4 is equipped as standard with an active sensor-controlled oscillation lock and tip-over protection.

Since all actuators are independently controlled, it is possible to raise the platform, steer and widen the extensions simultaneously without impairing any function.
